Operating System Support

Monitoring agents are available for Microsoft Windows, Linux, Netware, VMS and popular Unix flavours. Pre-packaged installers are available for Linux (Deban, SUSE, Red Hat and Ubuntu), Sun Solaris and Microsoft Windows.

Customisation

A major advantage of using Opsview monitoring agents over SNMP is the ease of customisation. Many organisations extend the monitoring agent to include their specific applications. Often this requires only minor changes to their existing monitoring scripts.

Opsview agents support authentication and TCP Wrappers. SSL encryption is used to protect data transmitted between the monitoring client and the agent.
